Position Summary
We are seeking a seasoned, pragmatic developer to co-lead the support and enhancement of our in-house legal systems, including our in-house developed matter-management system used by the Bridgestone West Legal Department. This role blends deep technical expertise with business process fluency, supporting legal operations through custom development, reporting, and workflow automation. The ideal candidate will partner closely with attorneys, legal leadership, and IT to translate business needs into sustainable technical solutions, while maintaining continuity and reliability across legacy and modern platforms.
Responsibilities
Application Development & Support
- Maintain and enhance existing applications
- Refactor legacy code for performance, maintainability, and compliance
- Troubleshoot and resolve user issues
Database & Reporting
- Design and maintain SQL Server tables, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions
- Develop and distribute SSRS reports for legal teams and leadership
- Ensure data integrity and performance across legal reporting systems
Business Workflow & Integration
- Build and maintain Power Platform solutions (Power Apps, Power Automate)
- Administer and extend on-premises SQL Gateway for Power Platform integration
- Interface with Medicare CMS Reporting, Risk Management, and QA Early Warning (PPIW) systems
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Support Windows-based application and SQL Server environments hosted on AWS
- Collaborate with internal IT teams who manage AWS configuration and provisioning
- Administer Azure tenant and host external-facing web applications for law firm access (Angular JS with SQL back end)
- Ensure seamless integration and operational continuity across hybrid cloud platforms
Consulting & Collaboration
- Translate legal business requirements into viable technical solutions
- Serve as a technical liaison to attorneys and legal leadership
- Step into operational roles (e.g., bill payment, matter docketing) as needed during transitions
- Document systems, workflows, and institutional knowledge for continuity
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 years of experience coding/application development and bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information technology or other technical area.
- Familiarity with AI tools for enhanced productivity in meeting business needs
- Proven experience (3+ years) in application development, including proficiency in .NET/T-SQL/SQL Server (schema design, stored procedures, query optimization) and experience with a front-end framework like AngularJS.
- Expertise in maintaining high-performance SQL Server environments and experience designing and delivering business-critical reports using SSRS.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain business process solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate, including administration of the On-premises Data Gateway.
- Working knowledge of AWS (Windows/SQL hosting) and Azure (tenant administration, web app hosting), with the ability to ensure seamless operations across a hybrid cloud platform.
- Experience refactoring legacy code and troubleshooting enterprise applications, ideally within a compliance-focused domain (e.g., Medicare CMS or Risk Management).
