Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our corporate engineering team supporting multiple manufacturing facilities. This role plays a critical part in new product launches, manufacturing changes, cost reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in machine and tooling design, large-scale manufacturing environments, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- ***Candidates must already be located in or around the Nashville, TN area***
- Lead and support cross-functional projects involving new product introductions, technology integration, and manufacturing process improvements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing sites to share best practices, drive standardization, and implement innovative solutions.
- Manage and execute engineering change requests, including design updates, implementation, and production start-up.
- Participate in or lead capital equipment projects, including specification, design, installation, and commissioning.
- Apply problem-solving methodologies to resolve technical issues and improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Conduct mechanical design reviews and ensure compliance with design standards and safety requirements.
- Utilize CAD tools to perform fitment checks, motion studies, and tooling evaluations.
- Support quality initiatives, including participation in audit teams and corrective action processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Proven expertise in machine and tooling design.
- Proficiency in Autodesk products, including AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and design standards.
- Proven ability to collaborate in team environment – quality, product design, sales, finance, procurement, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Catia or other advanced CAD platforms.
- Experience with tier 1 automotive manufacturing or consulting environment.
- Background in manufacturing equipment design and implementation.
- Familiarity with thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems is a plus.
