Position Summary
Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, one of the world's leading tire manufacturers, has an immediate job opportunity for an Electrical Engineer at the Aiken County PSR/LTR Plant. This position is responsible for the design, installation and continuous improvement of assigned machines and controls in order to maximize the safety, quality and operating efficiency of the plant. Strong project management and PLC programming skills are required. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, drives & servos and power distribution equipment desired. CAD experience is not required, but engineers are responsible for ensuring that drawings are correct and initiating changes when needed. This position is also responsible for maintenance technical support as needed.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for electrical expertise in single/multiple areas of the plant. Lead continuous improvement and corrective action activities & projects. Provide technical support to internal customers. Manage major projects such as New Machine installation, upgrades, etc. The Projects range from $50K to $1M. Analyze project requirements, identify and address design parameters, engineering challenges and to ensure solutions are implemented accurately, timely and within budget. Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure on-time delivery of projects, meeting quality standards and within budget. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements, for all activities, are observed and implemented.
Engineering: Create and finalize designs to meet project scope of work and safety requirements, Bill of Materials and spare part requirements. Work closely with Automation Vendors and Manage External Contractors on Installations. Engineering drawing development (Autodesk products). Project/Equipment Risk Assessment & Safety Countermeasure Implementation. Hardware design, PLC and HMI programming, VFDs, Servos, Control System Networking & Systems integration. Specification and procurement of electrical hardware and services. Machine FAT, IO check-out, Machine start-up and commissioning.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering and minimum 2 years experience in Electrical Engineering including “hands on” PLC programming and project management.
Working knowledge in writing/developing/programming PLCs and controls design. · Fundamental knowledge of Industrial controls and electrical systems. · Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills. Able to work independently and in team environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. · Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment. · Team player with the ability to contribute in a matrix environment and to assemble and lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred: · Experience specifying, installing, start-up and operation of A/C inverter and servo drives. · Working knowledge of Ethernet IP communications · Working knowledge of power distribution equipment including sizing transformers, electrical feeders, and distribution gear for equipment loads from 120V up to 4160V. Working knowledge with SAP for procurement and project cost tracking
