Position Summary
We are looking for a talented and driven Product Design Engineer to join our team in developing next-generation air spring systems for OEM automotive applications. This mid-level role is ideal for an engineer with a passion for product development, a strong mechanical design background, and experience in the automotive industry.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop air spring components and assemblies from concept through production, ensuring alignment with OEM requirements.
- Generate and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation using industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
- Conduct design reviews, DFMEA, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure robust and manufacturable designs.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities in collaboration with internal labs and external partners.
- Interface directly with OEM customers to understand technical requirements and provide engineering support.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis for field and production issues.
- Travel to plants, supplier locations, and more up to 15% or so
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience with elastomeric and composite materials.
- Proficiency in 3DExperience CATIA
- Knowledge of air spring dynamics, NVH, and vehicle integration.
- Exposure to simulation tools (FEA, CFD) is a plus.
- Experience working with global teams and Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers.
**Candidates must already be located in or around the Nashville, TN area**
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks).
Strong understanding of GD&T, DFMEA, and DVP&R processes.
Familiarity with automotive OEM development cycles and quality standards.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
