Polymer Engineering Pilot Center (PEPC). PEPC provides advanced research and testing technologies for product and process development, continuing to leverage Firestone's rich industry heritage to provide outstanding product quality and develop polymers for next-generation applications. The plant is located on a 35-acre site and produces MT quantities of baled products for testing. Our polymer engineering facilities in Akron work closely with Bridgestone's global facilities to develop the latest in tire polymer technologies. We are a part of the Akron Complex and participate in all Akron-based community activities.

Position Summary
Responsibilities
- Manage the Mechanical Integrity Program, including oversight of inspections, coordination of onsite contractor activities, and long‑term planning. Responsibilities also include working with site maintenance and operations teams to prepare equipment and support execution of the work.
- Lead activities tied to the sizing, maintenance, and replacement of equipment (ex. safety relief devices). Including set-up of new installations
- Manage small/mid-size capital projects and provide support for larger capital improvements
- Designs equipment and processes to ensure most efficient and productive operations
- Works on process problems of limited to moderate scope and assists with projects or processes while receiving general instructions from more senior professionals
- Interacts with DCS systems including minor modifications and upgrades
- Supports mentorship and training to engineering co-op students
- Oversees contractors daily including all safety aspects.
- Supports continuous improvement/automation activities
- Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of PSM/RMP and RAGAGEP
Minimum Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering field
Preferred: Experience working in engineering design/project management through co-op, internship, or school experiences.
