Position Summary
The Attribute Engineering Technology and Applied Research Team at Bridgestone Americas' Technology Center in Akron Ohio is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our group as an NVH Engineer. Full Relocation Assistance will be offered for this position!
In this pivotal role, you will be a key member of a highly skilled and experienced team of Subject Matter Experts across various engineering domains. You will serve as Bridgestone’s NVH Subject Matter Expert, contributing to and leading critical initiatives, including advanced engineering and applied research in automotive noise, vibration, and harshness.
Responsibilities
- Enhance our mechanistic understanding of tire noise and vibration generation and transmission
- Develop new tools and methods – physical, numerical and analytical - to improve Bridgestone noise and vibration design processes and tools and methods portfolio
- Work with different stakeholders in Bridgestone product development team and business to identify opportunities to improve our products and processes and plan and execute to close the technology gaps
- Working with the head of attribute team, lead the development, maintenance and execution of our technology and research roadmaps to ensure we maintain our competitive advantage in the areas of NVH
- Serve as North Americas NVH SME and work with different stakeholders to solve NVH problems and mentor younger engineers
- Work with outside universities and engineering services to scout new ideas, technologies and tools and methods
Basic Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Engineering specializing in Acoustics, Vibrations, and Structural Dynamics.
- Strong foundation in acoustics and vibrations first principles, coupled with robust and sound engineering knowledge and judgment.
- Proven track record of engineering problem-solving, utilizing first principles to resolve complex problems, and strong self-motivation to proactively initiate solutions.
- Ability to develop research and engineering roadmaps for planning and addressing the company's long-term problems and challenges.
- Background in experimental and physical NVH methods and techniques.
- Proficiency in computational methods, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage multiple stakeholders, explain complex NVH topics, and serve as a mentor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Acoustics, Vibrations or structural dynamics.
- Demonstrated leadership in solving large and complex engineering problems, while collaborating with various technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience with structured problem-solving methods and techniques.
- Experience in developing new physical test methods and simulations.
- Proficiency in data analytics and utilizing engineering data to drive value.
- Experience with acoustics numerical methods such as BEM, CFD, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
