Position Summary
This position does not require a valid driver’s license, as the role is not intended or permitted to move, drive, or otherwise operate transit vehicles. Individual in this role will perform tire maintenance and service on transit bus vehicles. Position requires job incumbent to be flexible and available to work varying shifts.
Pay Range: $13.64 - $27.28
Responsibilities
GENERAL SERVICE
- Mounting, balancing, rotating, and repairing Bus Tires.
- Proper maintenance of tools and equipment to promote efficient operating conditions.
- Load and unload tires and related items from onsite vehicles as required.
- Keep the work area clean and clear of all debris to ensure a safe work environment.
- Attend meetings held by Field Manger.
- Process all necessary paperwork on time.
- Observe all safety rules and procedures associated with the performance of duties.
- Use personal protective equipment according to safety regulations and policies.
- Any other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OCCUPATIONAL DEMANDS:
- The environment is very hot during the summer months and cold during winter.
- Exposure to various chemicals used in cleaning, lubrication, etc.
- Frequent bending, twisting and lifting over 50 pounds regularly.
- 100+ pounds of pressure when pushing tires.
- Repetitive and sustained exertions, forceful exertions, awkward postures, mechanical stress concentrations, vibrations.
NATURE OF DECISION-MAKING:
- Types of repairs necessary.
- Material to best complete the service work requested.
- Determine if replacement or repair is needed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- To progress to Tire Technician 2, the following is required:
- TIA level 2 certification (the U.S. only) within the first 2 weeks of employment
- TIA level 3 certification within 2 years from the date of hire
- 1-2 years applicable experience as Tire Technician 1 proficiency level
- Satisfactory work, safety, and attendance record
