Position Summary
Repair & Maintenance Electrical work focuses on repairing, constructing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate, service, and maintain new and existing electric light and single/3-phase power distribution circuits in class I Div I & II areas according to NFPA 70, 70E, &70B.
- Measure, cut, bend, and assemble conduit and wire, pull wire through conduit, drill holes for holding bolts, repair or replace defective elements.
- Dismantle mechanism as necessary to gain access to and remove defective parts and make any authorized changes in circuits, components or coordinated devices for purposes of efficiency and quality of product using specialized tools as necessary.
- Cut, bend, assemble connect, tighten, solder, adjust and otherwise repair defective parts and elements or obtain replacements from stores as required and reassemble mechanism, properly adjusting to assure optimum performance.
- Transport necessary equipment and materials to job site, clean up job site, return unused materials to storage and dispose of refuse.
- Make oral or written reports as requested by supervision concerning inspections, adjustments and repairs.
- Interpret and mark up pipping and instruments drawings/electrical one-line diagrams.
- Perform or assist duties of storeroom attendant as directed by supervision.
- Perform simpler duties of or assist other classifications to expedite completion of assigned job and perform other typical duties consistent with the job factors as required or that may be requested by supervision.
- Must attend classes when provided by the company for the improvement of above services or to increase employee's knowledge of a specific machine, machine part or service equipment.
- Observe all applicable safety rules to avoid accidents, exercise care when operating power trucks, and wear protective personal equipment when required.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Electrician Journeyman’s card preferred, or minimum 8 years electrician experience
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment and work independently
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Wear required personal protective equipment including but not limited to flame-retardant clothing, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, and occasionally a respirator.
- Work at heights, climb stairs and ladder
- Adhere to facilities Safe Work Practices including but not limited to Lock Out Tag Out, line breaking, hot work, and confined space
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Required Physical Activities and Working Conditions:
Standing, walking, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. without assistance, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, use of hands and feet, fine motor manipulation. Climb a straight ladder. May be exposed to noise, vibration, odors, and dust. Work may be done indoors and outdoors. Some work is confining, greasy, dirty and performed in high and low temperatures and mechanical hazards. Job requires normal vision, walking speed, and depth perception.
Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
