Firestone engineers air springs and related products for commercial trucks and trailers, cars, sport utility vehicles, light trucks, mini vans, motor homes, buses, agricultural equipment, rail and industrial applications.
Position Summary
We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team at the Firestone Airide plant in Williamsburg, KY.
Employee/Labor Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the wellbeing of employees. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with all relevant environmental, health and safety regulations, standards, and policies.
Responsibilities
Monitors and evaluates workplace conditions to identify potential hazards and develops strategies to mitigate risks by employing data trend analysis.
Develops and Implements Safety Programs: Conduct safety training sessions and provide guidance to employees on best practices for maintaining a safe workplace.
Develops the EHS budget for the plant as well as the planning of first response and security resources.
Investigates accidents and collaborates with engineers, management, the corporate EHS department and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence with the use of root cause analysis tools.
Initiates the processing of workers’ compensation claims and coordinates return to work protocol.
Provides advice and training on safety and environmental protocols and conducts/hosts audits to ensure compliance with organization and regulatory EHS standards.
Maintains and analyzes records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provides information required by regulatory agencies.
Ensures timely completion of company and regulatory EHS reporting requirements.
Environmental Management: Contributes to environmental sustainability efforts by identifying and implementing measures to reduce the organization's environmental impact. This may involve developing waste management plans, promoting energy conservation, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Coordinates the staffing and vendor contract requirements to facilitate compliant waste stream management (i.e., waste, recycling, hazardous waste).
Leads projects or processes of diverse scope, while working independently with limited supervision
Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals.
Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree; 6 y+ years of relevant experience including 3-5 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience
Or Master's degree; 4+ years of relevant experience including 2-4 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience
One of the following certifications preferred:
Master Safety Professional
Certified Safety Professional
Associate Safety Professional
Certified Safety Manager
